The profession of acting has been maligned throughout the ages. The actor has been considered foolish not only when he was clowning on stage but even for having chosen to be an actor - a vagabond or hobo strolling through life without importance or worth. He has been denied burial ground and has been accused of prostitution and other varieties of immorality, egomania, vanity, ruthlessness, hypocrisy, toadyism, to name a few. Even when his gifts were recognized as extraordinary, his talent was looked upon as an accident of nature. When the public turned him into an idol, they treated him like some rare species behind bars. They poked into his private life and examined every detail of it with the audacity and curiosity they might have exhibited while watching monkeys at their most intimate moments in the zoo.

Audition

How To Catch a Casting Director’s Eye

How To Catch a Casting Director’s Eye :
Short answer: have a great headshot.

Why Actors Need To Think Before They Tweet

Why Actors Need To Think Before They Tweet:
Great post about social media and acting, and how it might cost you the role of your dreams!

Geek & Sundry Vlog Submission: D.L.Y. - YouTube

Geek & Sundry Vlog Submission: D.L.Y. - YouTube:
My vlog submission for Felicia Day’s GeekandSundry.com!

The Run Has Ended!

What a wonderful 5-show run of Women In Motion at the Manhattan Rep Theater!

Had my first ADR session last week, for a movie I did last summer. That was a blast. I love voice recording. This was a trip, because I had to watch the video of myself and match my mouth exactly. It was a short session (3 lines), but so much fun.

It made me realize that I’d really enjoy doing animation voice over, or videogame voice over.

Why You Must Become An Adventurous Actor

Why You Must Become An Adventurous Actor:
Protip: do 1000% more than you think you need to. Actors need to be aware. BE AWARE. Of everything. Of the other person(s) in the scene; of the furniture, scenery or camera equipment around them; of the time of day in real life versus the time of day in the scene; of the lines on the page; but most of all, they need to be aware of THEMSELVES.

Do pilots just get in the cockpit and “wing” it? (I see what I did there!) Well, actors can’t do that on stage or screen either. It’s a profession. And the camera doesn’t lie.

5 Ways To Use PR To Keep Your TV Character Alive

5 Ways To Use PR To Keep Your TV Character Alive:
Once you’re on a show…
